Coverage & exclusions

Warranty & Workmanship Policy

Every MLB Roofing installation carries two separate layers of protection: the manufacturer's warranty on the materials, and our workmanship warranty on the installation. This page explains how each works and what is excluded.

Effective / last updated: July 31, 2026

1. Manufacturer warranties

Shingles, underlayment, ventilation, and accessory products carry warranties issued and governed entirely by their manufacturers. Coverage length, proration, transferability, and claim procedures are set by the manufacturer's published warranty document, not by MLB Roofing.

We register eligible systems on your behalf when you complete Warranty Registration, and we will help you submit a manufacturer claim — but the manufacturer determines the outcome of any material defect claim.

2. Workmanship warranty

Our workmanship warranty covers the quality of our installation — flashing, fastening, sealing, and detail work performed by our crews. The exact term, scope, and transfer rules for your project are governed by your signed roofing contract, which is the controlling document.

If a leak is caused by our installation within the warranty term, we return and correct it at no charge to you.

3. Warranty exclusions

Neither the manufacturer warranty nor our workmanship warranty covers damage caused by:

  • Acts of God.
  • Storm damage, including hail, hurricane, tornado, and wind beyond the material's rated capacity.
  • Tree damage, falling limbs, and impact from debris.
  • Improper homeowner modifications, including added penetrations, mounts, and attachments.
  • Lack of maintenance, including clogged gutters, debris accumulation, and untrimmed overhanging limbs.
  • Unauthorized repairs or alterations performed by another contractor or by the homeowner.
  • Improper attic ventilation or insulation not installed by MLB Roofing.
  • Customer negligence, foot traffic on the roof, and pressure washing of roof surfaces.
  • Pre-existing conditions, structural movement, and settlement.
  • Ice damming, condensation, and moisture originating inside the building.

4. Keeping your warranty valid

  • Register your roof through our Warranty Registration Portal after installation.
  • Keep gutters and valleys clear, and trim limbs back from the roof surface.
  • Have any new roof penetration — satellite, solar, vent, antenna — installed by a qualified contractor and flashed properly.
  • Report leaks promptly rather than waiting; delayed reporting can enlarge damage that is not covered.
  • Keep your invoice and project number; they speed up every claim.

5. Filing a warranty claim

Submit the Warranty Claim Request form on this site with photos and a description of the issue, or call (919) 430-3446. We will confirm receipt, schedule an inspection, determine whether the cause is workmanship, material, or an excluded event, and tell you in writing what we find.

6. Transfers

Whether a workmanship warranty transfers to a new owner is stated in your signed contract. Manufacturer warranties have their own transfer rules and deadlines — often a limited window after sale of the home. Contact us before closing and we will help you handle both.
